What really went wrong for the New York Rangers in Game 3
Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba and Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Corey Perryget injured during the third quarter of Eastern Conference Final of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs at Amalie Arena
The New York Rangers were completely outmatched right from the moment Nikita Kucherov scored on a power play at 10:50 in the second quarter on.
At the time the third game in the Eastern Conference Final ended, the Tampa Bay Lightning outshot the Blueshirts 52-30 and took the game by a score of 3-2.
However, despite being outplayed so badly, the Rangers were only 41.6 minutes away winning in OT. Ondrej Palat scored an amazing forward feed by Kucherov to bring Tampa back into the game.
"They were the better team tonight overall," Gerard Gallant stated. "It was all the way to the end and we had a shot to take the win late in this hockey match.
The Lightning were clearly more energized playing in front of their fans, with their talented wingers racing past the Rangers and Vasilevskiy looking far sharper than he did in New York.
