Netflix shared the first trailer for Blonde. The controversial Marilyn Monroe film stars Ana de Armas.
"I guess I was found. She tells him that she knows he should get used to it. "I play Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn Monroe. I cannot face another scene with Marilyn Monroe.
The trailer shows scenes from Monroe's childhood flashing on the screen. But behind these iconic moments in film history, Monroe struggles with her identity as well as the pressures of fame. "Marilyn doesn't exist.
When I get out of my dressing area, I am Norma Jeane. When the camera rolls, I am still her. Marilyn Monroe is only visible on the screen," she says to DiMaggio.
Blonde, directed by Andrew Dominik, is based on Joyce Carol Oates’ novel of the name. It will be available on the streaming service Sept. 28 (and no Sept. 23 as previously announced).
De Armas said that Blonde to Netflix Queue was a film she worked on for nearly a year. "I read Joyce's novel and studied hundreds of photos, videos, audio recordings, films everything I could find.
Every scene was inspired by an existing photo. Each detail of the photograph was examined and discussed. Our first question was always "What was Norma Jeane (Baker, Monroe's mother name] feeling here?" We wanted to share the human side of her story.
Marilyn was the most famous person in the world. But fame also made Norma invisible. De Armas said that Andrew's ambitions were clear right from the beginning -- to show a Marilyn Monroe version through her lens.
