Sirens sound in northern Kosovo, background unclear - report

According to the Serbian president, Serbia is in a "more complicated and difficult situation with Kosovo" than it is now

On Sunday afternoon, air raid sirens could be heard in Mitrovica, northern Kosovo. Local media reported that there was a large presence in the area of emergency vehicles.

As they celebrate the 10th anniversary, people are seen wearing the Kosovo flag.

The Kosovo Police stated on Sunday night that they have closed the Bernjak-Jarinje border crossings to traffic because of roadblocks placed on these roads.

According to police, other border crossings continue to work as usual. The sirens were not mentioned by the police and they did not provide any further information.

As Kosovo officials prepare to ask Serbians visiting Kosovo for temporary identification and replacement of their Serbian passports, the sirens ring.

According to N1 TV, Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic said that Serbia is in a "more complicated and difficult situation [regarding Kosovo]" than it is now.

Vucic asked all sides to respect the peace but warned that if they do not, "I'm telling them - Serbia will prevail."

Vladimir Dukanovic, a Serbian politician, tweeted that Sunday's tweet suggested that Serbia would be forced to denazify the Balkans. I would love to be wrong."
